I’ve had a nice and slow first day, there’re a lot of people around La Rambla which my hotel is near, either tourists, locals, performers, or vendors.
Tomorrow I plan to go see some of the architecture that I’ve heard so much about, and try to figure out what I’ll be doing to get to France on Sunday.
Here’s a photo of the view from my hotel as I write this.

Oh Europe. The stones are what get me about this photo. We just don’t have things like that here (esp on the west coast). Glad to hear it’s all going well so far. How is the Coffee / Espresso ? And the food ? Weather ? People ?
Agreed, the building style is awesome everywhere. I love the alleys (well, they’re full-on roads) here too – great, narrow, meandering and full of tiny shops. Very cool and great to walk around!
There’re lots of cafés around, in the touristy areas as well as outside of them. The food’s been good – actually on the flights over it was neat, fresh baguettes and croissants were served from bins on the Air France flights
I’ve been trying to avoid the super touristy areas (La Rambla and such) which makes figuring out food harder – once you get out of the tourist areas, people start to only speak Catalan, so english is no good, and neither in Spanish – apparently you can offend locals if you speak Spanish to them, so it’s touchy! I’m catching a few words here and there, but that’s about it. The weather was good yesterday – today it’s a bit like Seattle, which was a bummer but not a big deal. People seem good so far, friendly and everything. I’ve only ran in to a couple of Americans.
The coffee’s been fine – I guess I must be a bit of a coffee snob if that’s the first question on your list
