Well, I’m all packed and ready to head out to the airport tomorrow via the new Sound Transit Link Light Rail – I’ll probably head out a bit after 10:30am tomorrow as I’ll be walking to the Westlake station, downtown. That’ll give me plenty of time – I should be at the airport by 11:45 with the 37 minute Link ride. The Link Light Rail just began offering service to Seatac December 19th – so it’s exciting to finally use it! No more expensive cabs.

In addition to all that, I’ll be wearing a pair of cargo pants and a tshirt, along with my light Arcteryx jacket and beanie to the airport.
Well that’s that – time to wrap up some last things around here, then it’ll be off in the morning! I’ll probably post from the train, or at least from the airport
Well here it is – I’ve set up a little blog to use while I’m off traveling through Europe. Hopefully I’ll get it updating it often so people can have an idea as to what I’m up to, and maybe even comment on that and give me suggestions along the way (that’d be great!)
So, wait – what am I doing? Good question! Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Depart: Seattle, WA – 24 December, 2009 – Christmas Eve
Arrive: Barcelona, Spain – 25 December, 2009 – Christmas Day
Depart: Dublin, Ireland – 17 January, 2009
Arrive: Seattle, WA – 17 January, 2009
I had a bunch of vacation time to burn at work, and I’ve wanted to go to Europe for quite a while now – I got a great deal on some airfare, and figured I’d go and do it. I’m planning on backpacking around, and not planning too far ahead for anything. I’ve got a hotel for the first few nights in Barcelona booked, but that’s about all for now! Here’s a rough plan of where I want to try and go while I’m over there:
- Barcelona, Spain
- Bordeaux, France
- Marseille, France
- Switzerland
- Paris, France
- England, UK
- Scotland, UK
- Edinburgh
- Oban
- Iona
- Mull
- Highlands
- Dublin, Ireland
For the most part I plan to stay at hostels, Bed & Baths, and maybe a cheap hotel here and there. I’ve also though about trying out couchsurfing – I have a few friends that have done that (both as surfers and hosts) and they speak highly of it. We’ll see!
